Rocky Nook Park is a small urban forest with a year round creek. Filled with an abundance of rocks and sandstone boulders deposited there by an ancient landslide, and roofed by oak trees, the park affords a diversity of topography. Here children splash in the waters and explore the abundant life that the creek supports. We observe the grey squirrels as they travel their myriad tree top trails and the bird life in abundance near the water's edge. Together, we gather acorns, and share them with the acorn woodpeckers whose daily lives become an inspiration for our play. |
